A favorite Southern Utah highlight returned to Sand Hollow Resort this year: Golfweek, presented by Redrock Roadrunners. The weeklong event was established a few years ago as a way to raise money for worthy charities. It brings the rising stars of professional golf to the red rocks of Southern Utah to play on one of the world’s most spectacular courses. During the annual Golf Week, participants, sponsors, and community members have the privilege to attend several events including:
- Friendship Cup
- University Cup
- Charity Cup
- Sand Hollow Leavitt Group Open
- Golf Week Gala
- 18th Hole Party
- University Cup Hospitality Tent
Each event is well-attended as the community is united in coming together for a common cause.
Here are a few of the highlights from this year’s Golf Week:
- The University Cup champions were the U of U winning a purse of $35,000 for their golf program and the Charity Cup raised around 140,000 for the DDx foundation.
- Ron Boone of the Utah Jazz and Jay Schroeder (Jay is a former Raider QB and former Super Bowl Champion) were inducted into the Inaugural Charity Cup “Hall of Honor” in recognition of their ongoing support of R2 and this important charity event
